About Me

Karen Greer: I am excited to have your child in my classroom. I have been teaching for 30 years. I am a member of the LEGO Advisory Education Panel and a member of the GLOBAL LEGO Advisory Education Panel. I have attended Energy Camp for Teachers sponsored by the State of Tennessee for the last two years and incorporate energy and environmental education into my classroom teaching. I love teaching children and seeing the excitement in their eyes when they learn. I have two daughters(Kaitlyn and Kacie) that are 22. I'm sure you will hear about them this year. :-) Teaching is a joy that I LOVE and I work extremely hard to find activities that will engage your child in loving to learn!! An important part of education is to always love to learn. I still love learning new things everyday and I will try to instill this in your child. Help them see you love to learn new things everyday too.

LEGO LEAP TEAM

A piece of good news to share about your teacher. I have been invited to be a member of the LEGO Education Advisory Team for the second year (2013-2014). This team helps LEGO Education develop new products for education. I am very excited and honored to be able to be on this team for a second year.

Postcard Exchange

We are exchanging postcards with schools from around the United States. Your child may bring home a postcard from one of the states. Help your child find that state on the map.

Storyteller Grant

Our class won the Kindergarten Storystarter Grant for $750 from the City of Portland. This is a grant that uses LEGO bricks to create scenes and then the children write sentences and make up stories with the LEGO bricks. We will be receiving these soon. We are all very excited about this grant.

ENERGY Education Grant

This summer I had the opportunity to attend ENERGY Camp for Teachers in Tennessee. At this camp, I received a $500 grant for science materials. Your child will be scientists and working on experiments this year with these materials.

LEGO Grant

I'm excited to let you know that our classroom won a LEGO showcase grant in the amount of $1300. I will be sharing more information about our showcase at a later date. I'm very excited to use LEGO Education products in our classroom with your child. It will be exciting to see what they learn with this grant. :-)
